PARENTS HAVE FOURTEEN RIGHTS
Seven rights during lifetime:
- Esteem: to revere and respect them
- Affection: to adore and love them
- Obedience: to follow their commands
- Servitude: to serve them and perform their tasks
- Care: to comfort them
- Fulfillment: to satisfy their needs
- Visitation: to visit and converse with them frequently
Seven rights after death:
- Pray for salvation: to beg Allah Subhaanahu wa Taala for mercy and forgiveness
- Provision of THawaab: to do things which result in award of THawaab to their souls
- Respect of loved ones: to respect their relatives, friends and companions
- Help relatives: to aid and care for their family and friends as much as possible
- Payment of debt: to payoff their debt or any obligation they owed
- Implementation of their will: to act upon their legitimate will
- Visitation: to visit their gravesite occasionally
